Getting started with Referrals

Introduction

Leveraging customer referrals is an excellent strategy to grow your customer base and increase your market reach. Existing customers can introduce new potential buyers directly to your business. Consider implementing a rewards system to show gratitude to loyal customers who champion your brand.

Enabling the Referrals program

  1. From the dashboard, go to Programs > Referrals.
  2. Slide the switch to the ON position for the Referral Program Status.

Creating Rewards for referrals

In the Referral Rewards section, there are two default referral rewards you can edit, one for the Referred Friend and one for the Advocate. In this example, we will create the reward for the Advocate.

📝 Note: Should you prefer to incentivize the referred individual instead, apply the following instructions to the Referred Friend Reward section.

  1. Click the Add Reward button.
  2. Choose the type of reward. In the example above, we chose Percentage Off.
  3. Set your preferred settings in the following fields:
    1. Reward Title - The name of the reward
    2. Reward - The discount value of the reward
    3. Minimum Cart Requirement - Set a minimum purchase value the reward can be used on
    4. Apply to - Apply the reward to all your products or specific Collections.
    5. Purchase Type - additional setting for stores that have installed any subscription app (Change purchase type for discount rewards)
      1. One-time Purchase
      2. Subscription
      3. Both.

Setting an expiration

If you want to set expiration to the reward you created:

  1. Simply check the box under Reward Expiration.
  2. Select how many months before the reward expires.
  3. When you're satisfied with your reward settings, click Create Reward.

Changing the referral landing page URL

It's crucial to ensure that customers who click on a referral link are directed to your desired landing page. This is particularly useful when you want new visitors to see a specific collection, webpage, or product upon their initial visit to your store.

  1. From the Loyalty dashboard, go to Programs > Referrals.
  2. Scroll to Referrals Redirection URL and add the handle you would like to use, e.g. "collections" as in the example above.
  3. Save your changes.
  4. Any modifications to the URL will automatically update all existing referral links. You have the flexibility to alter the destination URL whenever needed, and all referral links will reflect this change.

Common questions

Is there a way in the app to track or monitor the statistics of the referrals brought in by my customers?
