Introduction

It's essential for companies to maintain control over their Loyalty program's various components, including who can participate. This setting enables you to choose whether to restrict point-earning to members exclusively or extend it to both members and guests, based on your preferred customer account experience.

Program participants overview

If you're on the classic customer account experience:

  • Members – Customers must enable a classic customer account to earn and redeem points, access their Loyalty information, join the VIP Program, and receive emails.
  • All customers – Guest customers will be also rewarded with points for completing some actions, but they will not access their Loyalty information or redeem points unless they become members.

If you want your guests to be eligible for a VIP Tier and receive emails based on their rewarded actions, optionally check Customers are eligible for all loyalty programs.

If you're on the new customer account experience:

  • All customers – Individuals who access their account by entering their email address and a single-use verification code will be classified as guests. These users will have the ability to accumulate and use points, view their Loyalty details, become part of the VIP Program, and receive email communications.

Updating program participants

Customize your Loyalty program to best fit the needs of your store and customer base.

  1. From the BrandLift Dashboard, go to Settings > General
  2. In Program Participants, please choose between two options:
    1. Members
    2. All customers
  3. If you're using the new customer account version, please check Customers are eligible for all loyalty programs
  4. Click Save.

Common questions

Can I change the program participants after my Loyalty program has been launched?

The participation setting can be modified at any time by navigating to the General Settings area.

Can members and guests earn points for the same actions?

In the traditional account format, guests may accumulate points for certain actions, but not all. Full access to the Points program benefits is reserved for members only. For more details, consult the BrandLift features for both traditional and updated customer accounts.

Can guests redeem rewards?

Point redemption for guests is limited to the updated customer account version. Those with traditional accounts must register to access rewards. More information can be found in the 'Managing customer accounts for your Loyalty program' section.

Do guests get notified when they earn points?

If you've opted for 'All customers' as program participants, ensure you've selected the 'Customers are eligible for all loyalty programs' option.
